What’s so special?
The Sicura Satellite Automatic is a striking example of the bold, experimental spirit of 1970s Swiss watchmaking. Sicura, a brand founded in the 1930s by Ernest Schneider, built its reputation on producing affordable yet adventurous designs. In fact, Schneider later acquired Breitling in 1979. A move that many suggest models like this saved and carried the Breitling brand through the quartz crisis. Sicura’s models from this era are now appreciated by collectors for their quirky charm, unique case shapes, and colorful dials.
What sets the Sicura Satellite apart is its futuristic space-age inspired design language. Inside, it houses a no-frills workhorse of a 17-jewel Swiss automatic movement, typical of Sicura’s watches at the time, offering dependable timekeeping without the need for a battery. The watch also features a day-date complication with a quickset on the date by rotating the crown backwards while in the hand-set position.
