About the Lanco Barracuda
The Lanco Barracuda is a Swiss-made dive watch from the mid-1960s to early 1970s, a period when Lanco (a contraction of “Langendorf Watch Company”) was producing tool watches for the growing market of recreation. Lanco, though lesser-known today, was once among the largest Swiss watch producers and later became part of the Omega-Tissot group. The Barracuda is one of the brand’s most memorable models thanks to its distinct dual-crown “Super Compressor” style case.
What makes the Barracuda especially notable is its internal rotating bezel, operated by the upper crown, and its bold, high-contrast dial with large luminous markers designed for legibility in murky diving conditions.
About this example
This particular example features a black dial aged to a rich, textured patina, with oversized trapezoidal lume plots that provide an unmistakably 60s flair. The luminous cathedral style hands are thick and functional, with the date window placed at 3 o’clock, accented by red numerals. The two crowns are unsigned but typical of the era, with the upper one adjusting the internal bezel and the lower for time setting. It’s paired here with a rugged brown leather strap that adds to the vintage charm. One of the crowns is replacement. Comes to you serviced by us and keeping excellent time for the condition and age.
